Almost all the pictures I post come from items in my own collection of vintage magazines, postcards, brochures, catalogues, cards, packaging... Sometimes I post finding from a friend, as in Linda's cartoons.

Fashions from Paris?

No, from Cincinnati!

All through the 20th century, manufacturers tried to get a little Parisian cache for their products. After all, what says style better than a view of the Eiffel Tower?

This picture is from a sales kit, aimed at women who wanted to work out of their homes, kind of like the Avon of clothes! The brand was Harford Frocks, and I was lucky enough to find an entire kit from the early 1950s. There were 50 styles in all, and each style card has a swatch of the fabric attached.

And unlike most of the things I show here, I've got it up for sale.
